My guy emailed me today and it sounds like he want to do some reconstructing of the frame rails as part of the process. I'll bet my floor is all kinds of messed up.

There is a reinforced section further forward, the first ~3" or so that can be used for jack placement. Placement of a jack or jackstands in that area will eventually crunch that rail. Subframe connectors are designed to tie a unibody car together and prevent the chassis from excessive amounts of twisting and flex when it launches at the drag strip. It is a combination of the weakness of the rail(which is a thin C channel that is spot welded to the floorpan) and the weight of the drivetrain. The front subframe here has been used as a jacking point, this part of the frame is not very stiff and as you can see has been bowed up. My own '79 requires the rear floor pan to be pushed up as it contacts the SFC before the SFC makes contact with the frame rail. With older cars and the longer wheel base F/Zs the floor pan can become depressed requiring it to be pushed back up.
